failure to load saved games, repeatedly.

this was a great game until i couldnt load my continue on one of my characters...
so i started over, and sure enough, about 4 hours into the game it happened again.
cant load my saved games.

either have a system where i can load previous stages, or fix this, because i really dont want to start over for the third time.
it will not load if you exit to mainmenu in the middle of a fight... but what do you do if your boss comes up behind you??

really not happy with this.
